It's not all about the guys here at soaphunks.net! We're also huge soap fans and have been for decades, so now we're taking a hunk break and bubbling up a list of the 100 Most Memorable Moments in Soap History. In the summer of 2007, we canvassed soap fans on the Web and got suggestions for the moments that had to be remembered. We ranked them, and now here they are, with video clips of almost three-quarters of them!
You're about to re-live 15 soap deaths, where, believe it or not, all 15 people didn't come back from the dead! Also interesting: only one soap birth made the list, while three abortions did. (Well, two: thanks a lot for re-writing history, All My Children!) Adding to the list's Ick Factor are an unfortunate five rapes. But on a happier note, of course you'll be able to walk back down the aisle of seven classic soap weddings...it woulda been 11 if it weren't for two kidnappings, one slip-of-the-lip in Llanview, and a set of flying teeth.
What makes for a great moment? Well, these are the moments that were dramatic enough to be called genre-defining; funny enough to have you rolling; sad enough to have you bawling; infuriating enough to have you screaming; or stupid enough to have your jaw dropping. Whatever the reason: you REMEMBER them, years after they first aired. One great litmus test: what moments do you know from soaps you're not even a diehard fan of? Chances are the most famous moments don't require you to be a daily viewer of that soap.
And while it's important to remember that this isn't a list of the greatest storylines in soap history, many of them will of course be featured in this walk back through time.
