adonis 2006
In order for a soap hunk to have been fair game for the Adonis 2006 contest, he must have
currently appeared on a U.S. soap during the contest period, with no announced plans (by May 5th, 2006) to vacate his role before the end of the contest. Competitors could be either on contract or steadily recurring.
I whittled the list of contenders down to 32, using hunks from each soap and trying to spread the wealth around and be fair and honest. These 32 guys were separated into four groups of eight in a random drawing that was witnessed by the public in this site's video chat room.
A CHANGE FOR 2006: Unlike in the past two Adonis contests, this year you could vote as many times as you liked, for as many contestants as you like. No more three-vote maximum!
For the first five weeks of the contest, you voted for which hunks would be competing in the finals. In four semifinal rounds, the two most popular hunks from each field of eight advanced. In the fifth week's Wild Card round, eight also-rans got one more chance to be the final competitor voted in by the public. Three more wild cards were hand-selected by three esteemed judges: one by TVGuide.com's resident soap guru Daniel Coleridge; one by Paula Abdul-wannabe soapgal, a galpal of mine who knows a lot about the hunks of daytime; and finally one more picked by yours truly. Then it was time for the real contest to begin!
Each week at soaphunks.net, I revealed the results of the previous week's voting LIVE in the soaphunks.net video chat room and launched the next week's round, all up until we ended up with our winner, the Adonis 2006!
